I’ve always known about my fascination for wine and growing grapes. After school, I completed an apprenticeship as a winemaker and passed my master craftsman's exam shortly afterwards. In the 1990s, I took over my parents' winery and have been running it with my husband ever since.

When I joined, I also created guest rooms and later holiday apartments - and since then I have been looking after the guests we host. I particularly enjoy preparing the breakfast buffet in the morning. In the afternoon, I am either in the wine shop, where I communicate with customers, or in the kitchen, where I prepare food for our Garden guests.

Being close to our guests is very important to me. I love creating a hospitable atmosphere where everyone feels welcome and can enjoy our winery to the fullest.

I had never dreamed of becoming a winemaker. I grew up in the Eifel mountains and received a university degree in electrical engineering. But after I met my wife, there was no way of getting around the family business.

My responsibilities lie primarily outside the house as I am tending to the vineyards, so I do everything from pruning the vines in winter to harvesting the grapes in autumn. In the cellar, I take care of the winemaking: From fermentation to storage and aging, thereby ensuring the quality of our wines.

I also take care of all repairs and craft work in the house and outside. Our Garden is particularly dear to my heart, which I am constantly improving and where I create art projects in my spare time.

I have discovered a passion in winemaking and beyond that inspires me every day.

There was never a doubt in my mind that I wanted to run the family winery one day. After graduating from high school, I first obtained my bachelor's degree in viticulture and oenology through a dual study program in Neustadt an der Weinstraße and then completed the master's degree "Joint Degree Master Viticulture, Oenology and Wine Economics" at the University of Geisenheim and the BOKU in Vienna.

Besides wine, traveling is another of my great passions that I have been fortunate enough to combine. I was able to gain two wonderful international experiences in winemaking, both in British Columbia, Canada, and in Margaret River, Western Australia.

With many new ideas and inspiring experiences, I am looking forward to writing the next chapter for our winery and discovering new paths into the future.

For me, the winery simply is a part of the family. Although I am currently completing my master's in Bonn and cannot be in Kröv very often, I always participate in the family business discussions and provide ideas.

I have already completed my bachelor's degree in food chemistry, and to further deepen my knowledge, I have started my master's degree in molecular food technology, which I expect to complete in the autumn of 2025. Though I am not sure where exactly I want to end up professionally, I am confident I’ll find my way.

What is certain, however, is that my family can always rely on me, no matter where I will be in the future.

Since cooking is my passion, I especially enjoy preparing our warm delicacies – whether Riesling soup or quiche -  since both combine perfectly with our wines.

Favorite wine : As long as it is sparkling!

I am so happy to have been able to support the family winery - especially being Ute’s life-long friend since September 2021. Since I was brought up at another winery in Kröv, it was not difficult for me to enter this wonderful workplace.

My main focus here is the paperwork and customer communication, but I also help out in other areas. With my training as a bank clerk and my qualification as a master horse breeder, I appreciate the variety that this work offers every day.

As a passionate traveller and language enthusiast, I enjoy welcoming our international guests and offering them an unforgettable experience. I also love bringing new ideas and creative approaches to further develop our winery. This combination of tradition and innovation makes my work exciting.

As a high school teacher of English and chemistry in Traben-Trarbach, my main job is teaching, but as Rebecca's long-term partner, I am also firmly rooted in her family and the winery. Before I met Rebecca, I was honestly not very well-versed in the world of wine and winemaking. But that has its perks, too! As someone from the outside, I have the freedom of bringing in new ideas and questioning existing concepts.

My passion for woodworking has given me the opportunity to realize some creative projects of my own in the vineyard - be it tables, signposts or furniture for inside. Photography has also been one of my hobbies for a long time and I am aware of the power of images. Learning the intricacies of wine production has also helped me to further broaden my perspectives.
